The History Behind the eCenter@LindenPointe
Our History
The Past That Has Created Our Present
Like many businesses, the eCenter@LindenPointe began as a simple idea and was designed to drive economic growth across Western Pennsylvania. In 2004-2005, a preliminary design process was led by the Hermitage Community and Economic Development Commission in partnership with the Penn Northwest Development Corporation, the Mercer-Lawrence Workforce Investment Board, and the Mercer County CareerLink. This lengthy gathering concluded that a tech center at LindenPointe would be beneficial to the regional economy, thus beginning extensive efforts to make this idea a reality.
The birth of the eCenter@LindenPointe was truly a team effort. In 2010, the City of Hermitage worked with HHSDR Architects & Engineers to finalize the design, plans, specifications, and bid documents with Rien Construction as the lead contractor. The Pittsburgh Green Building Alliance incorporated various energy efficiency and sustainable design features. The eCenter was completed in late 2011 and was the area’s first commercial building to achieve a “LEED Silver” certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
The eCenter was officially opened for business in 2012. The LindenPointe Development Corporation (LDC), a 501c3 nonprofit, leases and operates the eCenter incubation and business development programs.
